The 2024 Lexus LM: A Stylish and Luxurious Minivan Coming to Australia
“The Lexus LM is a luxury minivan that combines elegance, comfort, and performance. It is a unique and stylish alternative to traditional luxury vehicles, offering plenty of space for passengers and their belongings, making it ideal for long trips or business travel.”
Lexus, the luxury brand of Toyota, has recently unveiled the 2024 Lexus LM in China. This will be the first time the new LM will be sold officially in Australia, expanding its global reach to over 60 countries. The LM is the more luxurious version of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire people movers, which have been popular in Australia as “Used Car Imported Only”.
The new LM represents the first time a version of the Alphard and Vellfire has been sold in Australia since the nameplates debuted in 2002, although now with Lexus luxury badges.
The new LM will be available in Australia by the middle of next year and will come with a choice of two hybrid models. The LM is the second generation of the nameplate, following the original version based on the outgoing Alphard/Vellfire which has been sold in China and South-East Asia since 2020.
Aimed at China, where luxury people movers remain popular, the LM is expected to rival the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in Europe.
The new model will feature three rows of seating with six or seven positions or a flagship, two-row arrangement with four seats, including two luxurious, individual rear pews. The individual “captain’s chair” rear seats are equipped with power adjustment, heating, armrests, and retractable ottomans.
Moreover, the four-seater model comes with a smoked glass partition and a massive 48-inch TV screen for entertainment purposes and business meetings, separating the front and rear seats.
Lexus has taken inspiration from the newest 2024 Lexus RX to design the LM’s exterior, showcasing the company’s “spindle body” front grille design, chrome trim, and 17 or 19-inch alloy wheel options.
The adaptive suspension includes a “Rear Comfort” mode for a smoother ride in the back seats. The company has also worked on noise reduction by using sound deadening, a non-absorbent roof liner that provides subtle sound reflection, and added body bracing to the car.
The latest Lexus LM comes equipped with two hybrid powertrains, which it shares with the Lexus RX SUV.
The LM350h hybrid model combines an electric motor with a non-turbo petrol four-cylinder engine, while the LM500h is powered by the RX500h’s electric motors and turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine. In the RX, these drivetrains generate 184kW and 273kW respectively.
The 2024 Lexus LM will offer passengers a luxurious ride with its plush leather upholstery, optimized seat designs, and 64-color ambient lighting. The full suite of advanced safety features is included, although specific details have not been revealed yet.
This luxury vehicle is not only attractive in design but also boasts a hybrid drivetrain, ensuring both comfort and performance for drivers who appreciate both.
